Welcome to the 2023 Young Life Chicago Citywide Gala!
I am delighted and thrilled to spend this celebratory evening with you. As someone who has long held high the attributes of consistency and follow through, it is with great joy that I share with you the theme for this year’s Young Life Chicago Gala: Steadfast. I stand on the shoulders of greats when I proclaim that Young Life has been steadfast for over 80 years - including over 60 in the City of Chicago.
To be steadfast is not easy; it is the process of hard work day in and day out. Regardless of what is happening within ourselves, in our communities, or across the world, we are called to be resolute, firm, and unwavering in the call to follow Jesus and share the Good News. 1 Corinthians 15:58 (MSG) puts it this way: “With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don't hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.”
This year we are especially honoring our volunteers who pour into the ministry and truly fuel Young Life. Our volunteers are steadfast in offering up their time, treasure, and talent in the service of going out into the world and preaching the Gospel. One additional highlight for the evening will be the backdrop of our great city: we will have the privilege of taking Chicago neighborhood excursions and enjoying Chicago culinary staples without leaving the building!
Tonight’s gala is truly a celebration. We are celebrating the steadfastness of Young Life, the steadfastness of our volunteers, and more than anything else the privilege we have to participate in the work of expanding the Kingdom of God. Young Life Chicago is here and we are here to stay.
